Call yourself one!
There are no restrictions or regulations in place for Reiki Master Healers and practitioners. Anyone can become a Reiki Master Healer by calling themselves as such.
The Reiki healing profession isn’t alone as this is also the case for other professions such as Life Coaches, Nutritionists, Personal Trainers, and Health Coaches—and any other type of coach for that matter.
A Better Question Might Be—How Do I Become a Reiki Master Healer That Can Transform Lives?
Since anyone, aged 2 yrs+ can call themselves a Reiki Master Healer or Reiki Practitioner, how to become one probably isn’t the best question to be asking.
Sure, anyone can become a Reiki Master Healer—but not everyone can transform the life of another in ways they couldn’t have imagined without walking the road of healing through Reiki healing themselves and then healing another.
This takes personal dedication to master the craft of Reiki yourself. Evolution into a healing presence—a catalyst for deep energy shifts in another.
This my friend, cannot be done simply through a course from Udemy. You need ongoing practice and dedication toward your own energy healing.

On to the informal regulations of Reiki healing.
The Reiki Healing Association
There is a regulating body called the Reiki Healing Association attempting to regulate the Reiki healing industry. However, their accreditation is not recognized by any country as a legitimate licensing body.
Because of this, the Reiki healing industry remains unregulated. It’s not mandatory anywhere in the world to be an accredited Reiki Master Healer
Is Accreditation Recommended?
There is an ongoing debate about this. In the end, there are valid points to argue on both sides.
Getting certified through a Reiking Healing Association accredited Reiki Master Practitioner program does generally indicate the certification quality meets a certain standard.
For example, no accreditation is given to Reiki Master Healers who don’t complete an attunement. I 100% agree with this.
Reiki is not something one can learn by watching hours of video and all of a sudden know how to heal the energy of themselves or another. It takes practice, lots and lots of practice. First, you learn to perform Reiki on yourself, then you learn to heal another, through practice.
Distance Attunements
Any Reiki Master Healer Certification that is accredited by the Reiki Healing Association must have completed their attunements with a Reiki Master.
These days, most people prefer learning online as opposed to in-person due to convenience and it’s usually cheaper. But, can you get an attunement from an online Reiki Master program?
Historically, attunements were thought to only be done in person even though one of the core beliefs of Reiki Level 2 is that Reiki can be sent across time and space.
Based on much anecdotal evidence, distance attunements do indeed seem to work and are now recognized for accreditation through the Reiki Healing Association.
It’s Your Choice Whether to get certified
Whether you want to master the art of Reiki healing through an accredited program or not is ultimately up to you.
Would I recommend calling yourself a Reiki Master Healer without any high-quality training or ongoing practice? Absolutely not.
I surely wouldn’t want to be healed by someone who has no training or received their training from a low-quality certification like what you can find on Udemy.
