The Fundamentals of Structural Assessment (Module 1)

This learning module teaches a step-by-step process for conducting musculoskeletal assessments so you can identify common imbalances that can cause muscle dysfunction, joint discomfort and movement limitations.

You will learn verbal, visual, and hands-on techniques for assessing the feet and ankles, knees, lumbo-pelvic hip girdle, thoracic spine and shoulder girdle, and the neck and head. You will also learn how musculoskeletal imbalances in one area of the body can cause problems in other areas.

Understanding Muscles and Movement (Module 2)

This learning module explains in easy-to-understand terms how the whole body moves together as an integrated series of muscles, tendons, bones, ligaments, and fascia; information that is essential for understanding the root causes of musculoskeletal imbalances. It will teach you about major muscle groups in detail, as well as specific muscle origins, insertions, and functions.

Most importantly, you will discover the unique approach of The BioMechanics Method in regard to understanding how gravity and ground reaction forces change the way the body moves — knowledge that is imperative for designing effective corrective exercise programs.

The Fundamentals of Corrective Exercise (Module 3)

This learning module builds upon the knowledge and skills learned in Modules 1 and 2, and explains the most effective types of exercises for eliminating lower back, hip, shoulder, knee, neck, foot, and ankle dysfunction caused by common musculoskeletal imbalances.

You will learn about self-myofascial release techniques that will enable you to alleviate restrictions in muscles and fascia, stretching exercises to help increase a client’s mobility and range of movement, and strengthening exercises to help people begin to move correctly and without limitations.

You will also learn valuable strategies for regressing exercises when necessary, and then progressing exercises as a client’s abilities improve. Specific contraindications for each exercise type are also included to ensure safety and effectiveness.

The Complete Corrective Exercise Library (Module 4)

This learning module contains descriptions and demonstrations of almost 200 of the most effective corrective exercises for addressing musculoskeletal imbalances (including progressions and regressions).

The fundamental principles of each corrective exercise category are highlighted and key teaching tips for every exercise are provided. This comprehensive collection of techniques serves as an exercise guide to help you to create programs that are most appropriate for a client’s needs.

Corrective Exercise Program Design (Module 5)

This learning module guides you through the corrective exercise program design process from start to finish, teaching you how to develop and use effective communication strategies when working with clients that have corrective exercise needs. Comprehensive, real-life case studies using actual clients are also included that demonstrate the complete The BioMechanics Method process.

In addition to tying together the information from Modules 1-4, this fifth and final module of TBMM-CES course focuses on client communication skills, networking, and referral strategies so you can apply your skills within your scope of practice in the real world.

My Biomechanics Method Review

Below are my opinions based on going through the course.

For more context, I have 15+ years of experience in the fitness industry. I’ve taken numerous courses online and in person, watched 100’s (if not 1000’s) of videos on YouTube related to the fitness industry, and read numerous books.

In other words, I have a decent amount of learning experience to compare this course to in terms of quality.

What is corrective exercise specialist?

A corrective exercise specialist assess movement patterns with an eye for dysfunction. Once dysfunctions are identified the corrective exercise specialist will create a corrective exercise program that will facilitate correct movement patterns over time.

How do you become a Corrective Exercise Specialist?

You can take any one of the corrective exercise specialist certifications compared in this review post. It’s highly recommended you have a strong background in personal training or physical therapy prior to becoming a corrective exercise specialist.

Is corrective exercise physical therapy?

Physical therapy is a process of restoring normal movement, activity, and function. The focus of physical therapy is to improve movement and function through a variety of therapies and interventions. Our goal is to achieve a “normal” movement or function with a low likelihood of recurrence. However, if the therapy is not successful in achieving the “normal” movement or function, the next step is corrective exercise.

Corrective exercise is the process of gradually restoring function to a pre-existing movement impairment or to a new movement impairment that is unrelated to any other movement impairments. Corrective exercise is also known as “functional restoration”.

What is the importance of corrective exercises?

Corrective exercises are key to rehabilitation and prevention. They are exercises that are designed to rehabilitate and prevent injuries. Corrective exercises are used for injuries that happen during sports, physical activity, and more. Corrective exercises are also important for people who have had surgery or injuries. Corrective exercises can help to prevent falls and fractures, help with balance and stability, and more. When you are rehabilitating, the goal is to improve function and prevent re-injury. Corrective exercises are the best way to do that.

When should we do corrective exercise?

The best time to go through a corrective exercise program is before you start an exercise program. This will help ensure correct movement patterns when performing your exercise pattern.

Other important times to do correct exercise is for injury prevention, prehab and rehab.

PROGRAM & REGISTRATION OPTIONS

There are three options for you to choose from when registering:

Deep Coaching Intensive (DCI)

The Deep Coaching Intensive encompasses Foundation and Mastery components. Once you complete the DCI you receive certification as a Deep Transformational Coach.

Note: Certification as a Deep Coach from the Center for Transformational Coaching is not the same as receiving a coaching credential from the International Coach Federation, which is a separate application process.

DCI Portfolio Package

For those who desire to attain an ICF coach credential, the DCI Portfolio Package and the DCI Portfolio Mentored Package provide all the coach training hours needed to meet ICF requirements for the ACC application. These packages combine Life Coaching Basics with the

Deep Coaching Intensive for a comprehensive transformational coach training program.

Note 1: To apply for an ICF credential, you need to fulfill a number of requirements. The DCI Portfolio Package fulfills your coach training requirement when you apply via ICF’s ACC Portfolio Path. Visit ICF’s website for details on application requirements for that path.

Note 2: It is not possible to ‘audit’ the DCI Portfolio Package, as ICF requires that for application purposes, 80% of the training must be synchronous learning (SL).

DCI Portfolio Mentoring Package

Another requirement for ICF’s ACC credential application is 10 hours of Mentor Coaching. We offer this service with a qualified Mentor Coach when you register for the DCI Portfolio Mentoring Package. Typically, these hours are used following completion of the DCI as you continue to develop your coaching skills and knowledge in preparation for your ACC credential application.

DEEP COACHING INTENSIVE COURSE STRUCTURE

There are two components to the Deep Coaching Intensive (21 weeks; 42 SL learning hours):

1: Foundation (12 weeks)

The first part of the DCI imparts all concepts and knowledge related to the Deep Coaching approach and integrates it with ICF competencies. Foundation also offers a peer coaching program to encourage practice of the Deep Coaching approach from the beginning of the course.

2: Mastery (9 weeks)

The second part is designed to deepen student’s understanding of Deep Coaching through direct experience. Participants observe and discuss a series of Deep Coaching sessions led by the learning leader which expand their understanding of how the approach works across a range of personalities, situations, and issues. Participants also engage in a number of practice sessions. This is akin to supervised mentor coaching, and through feedback from the learning leader, participants receive the direction and support needed to master Deep Coaching.

To successfully complete Mastery, participants submit two audio recordings to the learning leader for assessment and feedback. These recordings will demonstrate the participant’s capacity and progress with the DC approach. Upon successful completion of all DCI requirements, participants receive certification as a Deep Transformational Coach.

MAIN LEARNING OBJECTIVES

The DCI is designed to create three types of knowledge:

  • Conceptual knowledge:  The key concepts here are understanding what transformational coaching is (as an approach), understanding the dynamics of human transformation, and how to create the conditions within a coaching space which optimize transformative change and enable deep shifts in awareness.
  • Practical knowledge: Transformative models and Deep Coaching practices are introduced which help participants move beyond transactional coaching methods, dive deeper into a person’s psyche and ‘inner operating system’, and enhance the power of their personal presence.
  • Self-knowledge: The most important dimension of all great transformational coaches, knowing — Who am I? What does my life and work stand for?

DCI PORTFOLIO PACKAGE STRUCTURE

For those who wish to attain their ICF ACC credential, the DCI Portfolio Package has been designed to meet all ICF requirements for the ACC Portfolio Path application by combining the Deep Coaching Intensive program with the Life Coaching Basics course.

Life Coaching Basics teaches you core coaching competencies and frameworks, including the ICF definition of coaching and Code of Ethics, and prepares you to be a knowledgeable coach who understands the profession’s unique approach to self-development. The DCI then builds on that foundational knowledge through advanced coaching practices.

Life Coaching Basics in the DCI Portfolio Package is a blend of self-study and support integration calls with your course instructor (both 1-1 and group calls). Visit our website for details.

Begin today. The earlier you get started with Life Coaching Basics, however, the more time you have to study and integrate the foundational knowledge before the DCI begins. Enrollment is ongoing, so you can begin at any time.

TRANSFORMATION ACADEMY REVIEW (MY EXPERIENCE)

I’ve taken all 4 courses that make up the Master Transformation Life Coach Certification. I’ll review them each one by one.

All in all, I think Joeel and Natalie do a fantastic job at making their videos engaging. Their teaching style is better than most, in my opinion, and this creates a much more palpable learning experience.

TRANSFORMATION LIFE COACH

This was hands down my favorite course of the 4 courses. I may be a little biased because transformational coaching is what I enjoy coaching on and learning about most.

Transformation is about who we are and who we want to be, not what we want to do. I was a little skeptical at first that JOeel and Natalie may get this wrong but they nailed it. This certification is all about who we want to be and not what we want to do.

Although much of the information in this certification was a review for me, it was a great reminder. Joeel and Natalie have a way of simplifying complex subjects and this allowed some of the information to sink a little further for me.

I resonate with the Hero’s Journey that they teach as I’m familiar with it. I’m glad it’s part of the course. I believe the Hero’s Journey is a great metaphor for the process we endeavor on our own journey of personal transformation.

There is a lot of teaching on beliefs; how we form them, how they affect us, how to release them, how to change them, and how to instill them.

FORGIVENESS LIFE COACH CERTIFICATION

I’m glad to see this certification is part of the program as I think understanding forgiveness is a huge part of our transformational journey.

Forgiveness isn’t new to me by any means. I’ve had to let go of my fair share of resentments and to do that I had to understand what that meant.

Forgiveness is one of the most challenging processes one will ever have to go through, however, the rewards are liberating.

What I liked: The information was presented well, in an easy-to-understand manner for such a deep subject.

What I didn’t like: The co-presenter, Sheri Rosenthal, seemed somewhat inauthentic to me. I feel she lacked compassion and emotional validation for the pain others may feel. But hey, that could just be me.

LIFE STORY COACH CERTIFICATION

I found certification a little redundant after already completing the Transformation Life Coach Certification.

The gist of the certification is this—we create a story around our life and who we are based on our upbringing and the coinciding beliefs that accompany it.

The redundancy is surrounding the beliefs. Much of the information presented about beliefs is a rehash of the Transformation Life Coach Certification.

I do think it’s important to understand that a client’s story is just that, a story. Their story is not absolute truth, it’s their way of seeing their life, themselves, and the world they live within.

It’s extremely important that, as coaches, we don’t get caught up in the story we’re being told. Instead, we see it with curiosity, we question it.

PURPOSE QUEST WORKSHOP FACILITATOR CERTIFICATION

I’m not going to be, this certification didn’t interest me much. I didn’t resonate with it as I have no desire to host workshops on people’s life purposes.

For this reason, I don’t remember much about this course as I breezed through it without being highly engaged.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you need a certification to be a transformational coach?

No, you don’t need a certification to be a transformational coach. There are no governing bodies that make being certified as a transformational coach a requirement

What is the difference between a life coach and a transformational coach?

What do Transformational Coaches do?

A transformational coach is a coach who specializes in personal transformation. They are excellent at helping people to find their true selves and make lasting changes. Transformational coaches help people to create a vision for their life and then work towards it.

Transformational coaches are often people who have personal experience with transformation and offer support and services to help people on their personal journeys. Transformational coaches help the person realize their full potential, which often isn’t available to them otherwise.

They are often the ones who are able to push the person to evolve and grow. While transformational coaches offer support, they don’t offer advice. They help the person to understand their own journey and to take the next step.

What do Life Coaches do?

Most people are familiar with the “life coach” – someone who helps you achieve success in life. A life coach can help you with anything from improving your relationships to achieving a better work-life balance. A life coach will help you to come to life-changing decisions so that you can live a more fulfilling life.

Life coaches, contrary to transformational coaches, may offer personal advice, help and/or guidance to help people on their own journeys.

What do transformational coaches do?

It can take anywhere from 1 month to 6 months to complete most spiritual coach programs and become a Certified Spiritual Coach.

how does working work

Insights For New Coaches – How Does Coaching Really Work?

How does coaching really work? If you asked 100 different Coaches that question, you would get 100 different answers!

Why is the question so subjective? Because it’s all about YOU – your perception, abilities, skills, life experience, and your application of the basic principles of Coaching.

Then, of course, you must also factor in the Client – their circumstances, abilities, focus, life experiences, plans, and their willingness and ability to adapt and change.

…and that’s without even getting to the “niche” stuff!

Let’s look at a working definition of coaching:

Coaching is a straightforward but often complex (see above!) methodology for support and/or guidance for either an individual or group that can be applied to virtually any topic, business, or philosophy.

It’s a cooperative, collaborative, interactive partnership that employs targeted questions and reflective listening to enable and inspire clients to resolve their outstanding issues.

Coaching is About Communication

In short, Coaching is all about advanced communication. It’s a practical application of skills, wisdom, and life philosophy that you learn exclusively by doing.

It’s about a cooperative, collaborative partnership with someone where your sole intention is to help them get the very best out of themselves.

It can only be effective if you as the Coach have absolutely no attachment at all to the outcomes they create for themselves. After all, from the client’s perspective, this is their life to live, and all the decisions they make and all the actions they take are entirely their own responsibility, right?

They must own their own life, and everything that happens in it. Personal responsibility is important to us all.

Your job as a Coach is simply to challenge their thinking with the use of meaningful questions in a way that helps them make effective decisions and then take effective actions.

You must also keep them focused on the task at hand as long as it’s necessary to get the job done.

Who Hires a Coach?

Mainly, two kinds of people hire a Coach:

  • Those who are excelling and want to get better
  • Those who aspire excellence and want to get there as quickly and efficiently as possible

Consider this:

  • Every major sports star has a coach.
  • Every major entertainer has a coach.
  • Every major entrepreneur has a coach.

Why? Because it makes perfect sense to do so! It saves time and money, the two most important issues for the most successful people in any field of endeavor. It also relieves clients of the burden of a lot of trial and error too.

Coaching clients will always be strong people: people with character, a strong sense of purpose, and a desire to get things done …and the quicker the better.

That’s why Coaches find the profession so exciting! The variety also adds so much color to everything they experience.

How Can You Become a Great Coach?

Without reservation, the answer is: Your Clients will teach you everything you need to know!

You Learn by DOING!

Consider the story of Usain Bolt. How did he become the fastest man on the planet?

By going to a seminar? Reading a book? Watching a DVD? Going to a class? Reading a Manual? Of course not. He RAN!  Maybe not so fast at first, but he ran.

Then he learned about the importance of a great start and a great finish. So, he practiced getting really good at his starts and finishes. Then he tried to cut as much space out of the bit in between as possible.

He practiced, adjusted, modified, adapted and changed …all during the time he was running. He had to learn BY doing, WHILE doing.

That’s how all the greats do it, and so will you. Coaching is no different. There is no other way.

But it’s easier, more fun, and much more fulfilling than you think. It’s a very vibrant, in the moment, way of connecting and communicating with clients to create beneficial outcomes about anything and everything that they have on their mind NOW.

Even the Client Learns by DOING

There can be no benefit from Coaching without making decisions and taking action. Just knowing about something doesn’t count for much. It’s the application of that knowledge in the form of decision making and taking inspired action that creates the results.

Being decisive and taking action on important issues has the ability to change your world. Resistance to change drops like a stone when you have tangible results that matter. That’s how we find the courage to step out and change things.

Coaching is Both Evolutionary and Revolutionary

Coaching is evolutionary because the more clients you work with the more skilful and refined you become in your abilities to help them.

It’s revolutionary because it has the ability to create massive and positive change for both the client and the Coach at the same time.

And yet there is no magic to it. There are no secrets to learn either.

It’s simply a form of advanced communication that the Coach, through practice, and the client, through cooperation and collaboration, benefit from over time.

There is no better methodology for creating lasting, permanent change.

Imagine how many people you can help, entrepreneurs you can enable to make their dreams come true, and valuable relationships you’ll forge!

So, go out there and change the world!

attitudes. This is a very experiential module, where you will be participating in a
21-day technique for instilling healthy habits and raising your own permission
levels for success, well-being, love, and abundance. You will gain tremendous self-knowledge and confidence as you establish your own series of positive habits in a 3-week experiential journey, using self-hypnosis and mind-focused activities.

Note: For your self-hypnosis experiment, make sure to mark off a 21-day period on your calendar when you can commit to doing a cycle of change selected from the text e-book. This should be a time that you are not traveling or have projects that interfere with your ability to complete the 21 days.

Step 3: Spiritual Wellness Specialist Certification

This course is divided into 6 modules, plus you will have access to the business-building course “Essential Effective Coaching,” once you are almost done with the course materials for SWS.

Module 1: Anatomy of the Spirit

Discover the principles of metaphysical spirituality and the various levels of consciousness, Contains 4 subsections: a) At the Beginning, b) Faces of God, c) anatomy of the Spiritual Body and d) Non-Physical Beings (Angels, Fairies, Devas, Spirit Guides). Discover Spiritual laws of creation, the Hermetic Principles, Religion & Spirituality, The Divine Feminine, Introduction to the Monad (Divine Spark) or Oversoul, Chakras, Auras, and Energy Fields. Learn how to measure and repair chakras with a crystal pendulum, that we will send you as a gift.

Module 2: Awakening

We begin our exploration into the Divinatory Arts, discovering various tools that help you tap into and channel your innate gifts of Intuition and Insight so that you have clarity when working with clients. The divinatory tools are not designed to predict the future, but rather to open yourself to Divine Wisdom through symbolism and hidden messages. You will be introduced (with some depth) into reading the Tarot, Interpreting Natal Astrology Charts, Birthdate Numerology, and Crystals & Energy Balancers (Used for tapping into intuition, and review methods for employing Crystals and Gemstones for meditation, healing work, and higher consciousness). Fairy Oracle Deck provided to you!

Module 3: Afterlife

What happens before we take on a physical form? What happens when we complete a lifetime?

In this module, we will explore multiple theories of what happens when we die, the Bardo state, Soul Contracts, Soulmates, “Life between Life” Reincarnation, Mediumship, Disembodied Spirits, and Astral Planes, Parallel Universes, and the Seven Rays An illuminated understanding of Heaven, Purgatory and Hell — from a spiritual perspective.

Module 4: Alignment

In this module we will also delve into the concept of the “wounded healer” and how — as we work through our own issues and growth — we are better able to hold the vision for our client’s consciousness-raising and spiritual evolution. Understand the meaning of Empath and HSP (Highly Sensitive Person) and how they are particularly challenged in this world.

In this phase you will learn a philosophical paradigm to help your clients understand and identify how childhood programming, collective consciousness and the outer mind interfere in one’s self-image and capacity to realize one’s fullest potential. You will learn the concepts of Multiplicity of Selves, Jungian Depth Psychology, Archetypes, Aspects of Selfhood, Holographic Universe, and working with the I AM Presence.

Module 5: Application

How does one spiritualize their life in a modern world? Here you will begin to apply your newly acquired knowledge to work with your coaching clients. We break down the various stages of emotional and spiritual healing, including Law of Forgiveness, Creating Life Balance, Cultivating Gratitude, Taking Responsibility for Co-creation, and Spiritual Surrender.

We will add more healing tools to your repertoires, such as Visualization, Power of Affirmative Prayer, Law of Attraction (Manifestation) through engaging the Higher Self, Energy Clearing, Self-Protection, and Spiritual Hygiene.

Module 6: Action

In this final SWS module, you will begin to apply your newly acquired knowledge to work with your coaching clients as a Spiritual Wellness Specialist. You are given practical applications to apply all that you have accumulated through the previous modules in working with your clients, including some original healing modalities created by Dr. LJ (Jungian Archetypal Journey, and The Thoracic T®).
You can also download all the forms you may need for your coaching practice, including Coaching Agreement, Disclaimers, Intake forms, Client Contracts, etc.
You will also be assessed for competence and confidence in this final certification step, through recorded demonstrations and role-playing.

Enrollment is ongoing, so you can begin at any time.

how to become an aromatherapist

It’s Easy To Become An Aromatherapist—Here’s How

It’s so easy

Are you ready for it?

Here’s how to become an aromatherapist…

Call yourself one!

There are no restrictions or regulations in place for the Aromatherapy profession. Anyone can become an aromatherapist by calling themselves such.

This means that anyone who chooses to become an aromatherapist can do so without the need to be certified. However, most practicing aromatherapists are certified. This is highly recommended when working with clients and other practitioners to ensure their safety.

The aromatherapy profession isn’t alone as this is also the case for other professions such as Herbalists, Nutritionists, Personal Trainers, Life Coaches, Health Coaches—and any other type of coach for that matter.

A Better Question Might Be—How Do I Become an Aromatherapist That Can Transform Lives?

Since anyone, aged 2 yrs+ can call themselves an aromatherapist, how to become one probably isn’t the best question to be asking.

Sure, anyone can become an aromatherapist—but not everyone can use the intricacies and science behind aromatherapy in a safe and highly effective manner with other people.

This takes personal dedication to the craft of aromatherapy.

There are many different types of aromatherapists. However, they all work to make people feel better through their work. They can help people with things like stress, anxiety, depression, and more. For example, they may work on an emotional level, or they may work on a physical level by healing the body through the use of essential oils. They may also do both.

This my friend, cannot be done through a course from Udemy. You need a well-structured course that covers all the fine details as there is an abundance to learn. We’re talking 100’s of hours of studying and application to truly understand how to help others through herbalism.

One-on-one support and case studies with feedback are essential to learning aromatherapy.

I have recommended a valuable resource toward the end of this post as a place for you to start.

On to the informal regulations of Aromatherapy.

National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA)

There is a regulating body called the NAHA (National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy) attempting to regulate the aromatherapy industry. However, their accreditation is not recognized by any country as a legitimate licensing body.

Because of this, the aromatherapy industry remains unregulated. It’s not mandatory anywhere in the world to be an accredited or certified aromatherapist.

Is Accreditation Recommended?

There is an ongoing debate about this. In the end, there are valid points to argue on both sides.

Getting certified through a NAHA accredited Aromatherapist program does generally indicate the certification quality meets a certain standard.

Aromatherapy is not something one can learn by watching hours of video and all of a sudden knowing how to use herbalism with another. It takes practice, lots and lots of practice and application. First, you learn to use herbalism with yourself, then you learn to use it with another.

It’s Your Choice Whether to get certified

Whether you want to learn the science of aromatherapy through an accredited program or not is ultimately up to you.

Would I recommend calling yourself an Aromatherapist without any high-quality training or practice? Absolutely not.

I surely wouldn’t want to work with someone who has no training or received their training from a low-quality certification like what you can find on Udemy.

Do Your Research and Find a reputable certification

Take some time to discover exactly what you’re looking for in a program. Make sure it resonates with you.

I wrote a long detailed post comparing 3 amazing online Aromatherapy Certification programs and each of the programs offers a slightly different approach.

Important: Aromatherapist Certifications Aren’t Regulated

What does this mean for you? You can receive a certification from any school and call yourself a certified aromatherapist. With aromatherapy not being a regulated industry, it’s extremely important to vet the aromatherapy school you plan on learning from to make sure they’re legitimate and have high-quality standards.

This post will help you do just that.

Who is this post for?

This post is for you if you have a budget of $800-$2000 (payment plans are available for all programs) and want an easier time making a decision on which is the best online aromatherapy certification school for you.

Basically, I’ve done the homework so you don’t have to.

If you’re looking for a cookie-cutter, low-priced online aromatherapy certification school that can be found on Udemy, this post is not for you. Otherwise, dive right in

Word of Warning (Udemy)

I understand how tempting it is to get ‘certified’ on Udemy for $15 (their top aromatherapy certificate course is only rated for 6 hours)—but if you want to be a great Aromatherapist you need great schooling. Also, you want an extensive curriculum that provides feedback on your coursework, otherwise how else are you to know how you’re doing?

If you’re serious about this, and it’s not just something else to learn, I strongly recommend you do not cut corners.

Certified Essential Oil Practitioner

Module 1 – Introduction to Essential Oils

Module 1 gives you the “big picture” on how essential oils can dramatically increase wellness and promote healthy function throughout the entire human body.

You’ll discover important information about essential oils, including:

  • Origin – We know that essential oils didn’t just turn up in little bottles! Discover how essential oils were developed over the course of thousands of years.
  • Benefits – Learn how essential oils relax, soothe and help the body to heal itself, all due to the chemical biocompatibility that essential oils share with the human body.
  • Function – It’s great when something works, but it’s even better when you understand how and why something works, right? Here, we’ll cover the different applications of oils and how they affect the body’s systems.
  • Purity and Concentration – Essential oils are not simply fragrant oils. Discover how essences are extracted from plants in order to obtain pure oils that are therapeutic and promote healing.
  • A Brief History – What do the ancient Egyptians, Chinese, and Greeks all have in common with you and me? Essential oils! Here you’ll learn how various cultures utilized these powerful substances.
  • Modern Use – Finally, we discuss the advances made in the field of aromatherapy after the 17th century. We’ll also look at influential writers, whose literature continues to impact the study and application of essential oils today.

Module 2 – How to Use Essential Oils: Basic Principles

Essential oils are very easy to use. They’re also incredibly potent and can have dramatic effects throughout your entire body. When used properly, they usher in amazing results. But if we’re not careful with these powerful substances, we can accidentally cause harm and detrimental results.

If you’re new to aromatherapy, and not sure what to do, don’t worry. This course gives you the necessary tools to use essential oils confidently, safely, and effectively.

Here’s what you’ll learn in Module 2:

  • Your Body and Essential Oils – How does the body absorb essential oils? Discover the three main ways here.
  • How to Apply and Determine Dosage – Learn all about carrier oils and why they’re important. You’ll also learn specific dosage recommendations based on the individual’s age. Finally, discover how to apply and administer essential oils in several different ways.
  • How to Store Essential Oils Properly – You don’t need a fancy apothecary to store your oils. Instead, just follow the simple guidelines we introduce here.
  • Chemical Degradation – Discover how basic, natural elements, like sunlight, heat and oxygen can gradually (and negatively) alter the quality of your essential oils.
  • Using Essential Oils Carefully and With Caution – Some oils should never be used. Others should be used with caution. There are also specific oils that should be avoided during pregnancy, and for people with certain health conditions.

Module 3 – Single Oils, Oil Blends & Blending

So far, we’ve covered the very basics of essential oils. We’ve gone back thousands of years to explore their history, and we’ve learned how essential oils interact with your body today. We know why it’s important to use caution and care when applying, dosing, and how to store these powerful substances.
And while it’s important to know the best way to keep your essential oil collection in the cupboard, isn’t it time we dive a little deeper into the fragrant world of aromatherapy?

Every oil has its own therapeutic properties, its own signature scent, and its own story, so to speak. And this is where the fun begins! Imagine that you’re attending an exciting networking event. Every individual brings their own talents and gifts to the table. The same goes for essential oils. Each one provides something unique, and your personal relationship with essential oils begins right here, in Module 3.

Maybe you’re interested in making perfumes, or perhaps you’re aiming to use essential oils for therapeutic purposes. You’ll learn how to do both in this module.

Here are the lessons we’ll cover:

  • How to Organize Your Single Oils – How you organize your essential oils is entirely up to you. It might depend on what you use your essential oils for. For example, you might organize them differently if you make perfumes instead of therapeutic blends. You’ll learn several organizational tips that make sense for your practice.
  • Therapeutic Blending – Here, you’ll learn how to make the perfect oil blends based on the specific needs of the individual. We’ll discuss the proper supplies, common measurements, and suggested combinations.
  • Perfume Blending – Become your own parfumeur and create essential oil blends with a deeper understanding of the three aromatic notes.
  • Developing Your Own Blending Style – We’ll cover five different blending styles. This enables you to develop a style that aligns with your creative and healing work, and will also provide you with exemplary teachers to follow.

Module 4 – Quality and Purity

You’ve made the exciting decision to become an essential oil practitioner. You’ve got the basics under your belt. Now, it’s time to start building your very own collection of essential oils.

Perhaps you’ve started shopping around and see that there are many different brands and prices to choose from. And when you have the choice between a lavender essential oil that costs ten dollars and another oil for twenty dollars, you might want to reach for the cheaper bottle first. This module will help you become a better shopper when it comes to essential oils.

Not all essential oils are made equal, and Module 4 teaches you how to purchase oils based on two important factors: quality and purity.

Here’s what we’ll cover in “Quality and Purity”:

  • Why Quality and Purity Are So Important – So many steps have to happen for an essential oil to go from the original plant to your shelf. We’ll discuss what will increase or decrease an oil’s quality, as well as its purity.
  • Synthetic and Adulterated Oils – Because several other industries utilize essential oils, many productions have become standardized for consistency. We’ll cover this, and why synthetic ingredients can be highly detrimental in your essential oil practice.
  • What Essential Oils Consist Of – Scientists can now isolate the beneficial parts of an essential oil and mix it with lower quality ingredients. You’ll learn why it’s best to keep the essential oil pure with its original, beneficial properties.
  • Discerning Whether an Oil is Pure and High Quality – There are standards and labeling used in the essential oil industry, but sometimes it’s difficult to trust even these. Module 4 gives you insider tips to help you look past the label and choose the best oil possible.

Module 5 – Holistic Approach to Wellness: Understanding Disease and the Effects Essential Oils Have on Our Well-Being

As an essential oil practitioner, you’re interested in alleviating suffering and supporting health and wellness. You’re probably eager to help your clients find relief from a wide range of issues, such as arthritis, influenza, allergies, and trauma, just to name a few. To therapeutically treat disease with aromatherapy, you must first adjust your understanding of the disease. Instead of focusing on simply removing disease from the body, you will learn to focus on the root cause of the issue, and how it’s affecting the entire body.

In Module 5, “Holistic Approach to Wellness”, we’re going to expand our understanding of the disease, and how essential oils are an excellent modality for supporting health goals.

Here’s what we’ll cover:

  • Health, Pathology and Disease – We will examine these terms and redefine them. This will help use essential oils far more effectively.
  • Common Types of Disease – This is an introduction to the common diseases you encounter daily, both in and out of your aromatherapy practice.
  • Allopathic versus Holistic Approaches – We will review these two modalities, as well as how they impact our approach to healing.
  • Complementary Practitioners – An essential oil practitioner should be a complementary practitioner. Here, you will learn how aromatherapy embraces holistic principles, and can work alongside allopathic treatments.
  • The Immune System and Essential Oils – To alleviate suffering and return to a state of wellness and ease, it’s crucial to have a strong and robust immunity. Here, you will learn the specific essential oils to strengthen the immune system.
  • Physiological Effects of Scent – To close Module 5, we discuss how essential oils – especially when inhaled – offer powerful healing properties. Research studies are provided for your consideration.

By understanding what disease and health truly are, you can administer essential oils that positively influence the body’s response to disease.

Module 6 – Basic Physiology and Essential Oils

You know that essential oils are powerful and offer beneficial supportive properties. That’s why you’ve decided to become an essential oil practitioner.
In Module 6, you will dive deep and discover how essential oils can be so potent within the human body. It’s safe to say that it’s the most scientific module in the Essential Oils Practitioner Course, and the information you’re about to learn will truly fill you with awe and wonder.

Module 6 will cover these topics:

  • What Makes Essential Oils Work Physiologically – Because of their unique structure and size, essential oils are capable of working on a physiological level. You’ll learn more about their size and structure, and how that allows them to work in specific areas of the body.
  • Basic Introduction to the Limbic System – It’s impossible to discuss the physiological activity of essential oils without considering the limbic system. This group of brain structures is responsible for many bodily functions, and a foundational understanding of the limbic system allows you to understand how essential oils work.
  • How Essential Oils Are Processed in the Olfactory System – How do essential oils make their way to the limbic system? And what happens once they get there? We’ll cover this process in greater detail here.
  • The Special Effect Essential Oils Have on the Emotional Brain – Essential oils can instigate positive change within the physical body, but due to their unique nature and their work in the limbic system, they are especially powerful when it comes to supporting cases with emotional trauma, as well as suppressed memory and emotions.
  • We know essential oils can work wonders. Now, it’s time to discover the amazing scientific information that explains how these beneficial and supportive effects occur.

Module 7 – Teaching an Essential Oils Class

One of the best parts about becoming an essential oil practitioner is being able to connect with other people. It’s how you grow your business and create a community that supports the world of essential oils. Teaching your own essential oils class is an excellent way to share this exciting information with others, while simultaneously building your own team and clientele.

Teaching can be fun, but it might still be intimidating in the beginning. So, to offset any worries you might have about teaching an essential oils class, this
module will walk you through each and every step along the way. It’s important to remember that there are many large essential oil companies, including multi-level companies, that already have methods, strategies, and policies in place. The information in Module 7 is meant to supplement, and not replace, these systems.

Here’s what we’ll cover in Module 7:

  • How to Create Your Own Class – What do you want to teach and why? By answering these, and several other questions you’ll begin to discern and identify your ideal class. Then, you’ll learn how to design it.
  • Class Preparation – So many details go into an effective and successful class. We’ll review all of them, from lesson planning, rehearsing, supplies and logistics.
  • Teaching – Preparation is important, and so is the actual class you teach. You’ll learn two important tips to help you begin and end your class like a pro.
  • Follow-Up – The best teachers are the ones who review their classes and identify both their successes and also what they need to improve. Here, you’ll cover the different elements you need to assess to make your next class even better.

Module 8 – How to Start an Essential Oils Business

Welcome to the penultimate module in your Essential Oils Practitioner’s Course! You’ve come so far and covered everything from the very basics about essential oils to some rather scientific discussions about physiology and the various systems within the human body.

Now, it’s time for you to think about starting your own essential oils business. And that’s where Module 8 comes in. It can be overwhelming to start any business, but Module 8 gives you the tools and confidence you need to launch your essential oils business.

Here’s what we’ll cover:

  • Educate Yourself – You have learned a lot in this course, but there’s always more to learn. And continued study and research is one of the first steps to starting your business.
  • Navigating Logistics – You may not be as passionate about logistics as you are about essential oils, but backend details can make or break a successful business. We’ll cover inventory, budget, bank accounts and more.
  • The FDA and Essential Oils – As an essential oils practitioner, you need to be informed and up to date with the rules and regulations set by the FDA. You’ll learn how here.
  • Branding Your Business – Because essential oils have become increasingly popular, it’s crucial that you develop a brand that represents you and attracts customers. We’ll discuss logos, names, websites and more.
  • Marketing and Advertising – Help people find you and your business by taking time to broadcast your business, as well as the products and services you offer. The biggest goals can be broken down into small, do-able steps, and Module 8 lays the perfect foundation for your career as an essential oil business owner.

Module 9 – Perfecting Your Essential Oils Practice: Use of Coaching Skills, Client Management, and Advertising Strategies

ipec coaching review

iPEC Coaching Review + More Affordable Alternative (2022)

I ‘ll cut to the chase, I think the iPEC Coaching Program is significantly overpriced. With an astonishing price tag of $11,950 USD, this program isn’t accessible to the average person.

I believe there are equivalent programs out there for 1/3 of the price.

After thoroughly reviewing their program without actually having gone through it myself, I cannot justify the hefty price tag when compared with competing coaching programs.

If I cannot justify the price tag, what’s to think others can’t either?

iPEC recently reached out to me, asking to promote their program for a financial benefit. Now, if I had no integrity or care for my readers, I would have blindly jumped all over this opportunity, without question. Where do I sign?

But, that’s not me. Instead, I had questions, which unfortunately never got answered.

iPEC Initial Message

Hello Rob,

My name is Johnnathan and I manage the iPEC Life Coaching affiliate program. I’m reaching out to you because you have a high-ranking post on google titled Compare 6 Unique Online Life Coach Certifications (2021) and we would like some information on how we could be featured in this post or future posts like this one. I look forward to hearing back from you and exploring a mutually beneficial partnership.

My Reply

Hi Johnnathan

Thanks for taking the time to reach out

I checked out your website and coaching programs. The programs look well-developed and complete.

I’m open to including your coaching certification in the post.

I have just one lingering curiosity:

What makes iPEC worth 3x the price of a program like Coach Training Alliance? I’m unable to make this distinction for myself just from gathering info from your website. Leading me to believe others probably wonder the same thing.

For me, this is a huge distinction I’d need to clarify and justify to my readers in order to make sense including it into the post.

I look forward to hearing back

iPEC Reply

The Biggest Differences – Are They Worth It?

Cost

iPEC: $11950
Coach Training Alliance: $3547

In-Person Learning

iPEC: Yes
Coach Training Alliance: No

Is in-person learning superior to virtual? I think in most cases, in-personal learning is superior to virtual. Nothing compares to that human-to-human connection you get when present with others.

Will one learn more by learning in person? The short answer, no. Coaching is one of those professions that doesn’t need an in-person application or hands-on learning to understand the material. If one can run a successful virtual coaching business with clients then one can successfully learn coaching virtually as well.

Is having an in-person option worth an extra $7000 fee? To each their own but I’d say absolutely not.

ICF Accreditatuion Hours

iPEC: 200 hours
Coach Training Alliance: 60 hours

What does 200 accreditation hours get you? This will allow one to apply for the Master Certified Coach designation through the ICF. This is their highest coaching level available.

What does 60 accreditation hours get you? This is allow one to apply for the Associate Certified Coach designation through the ICF. This is their entry coaching level.

Do designations matter? If you’re looking to work for a corporation, they may require an ICF-based designation. Otherwise, if you’re lookng to start a private practice, neither matters much. Clients don’t know who the ICF is, and they rarely ask for specific designations. Even if they do, they won’t know the difference between one coaching program and another, only you do. What they care about is you getting them results.

Niche Specific Training

iPEC: Yes
Coach Training Alliance: No

Is niche specific training important? Yes, finding your niche is essential to your success.

What niche specific training does iPEC offer? Keep in mind, the niche they offer are very broad and would still benefits from being niched down further.

  • Life Purpose Coaching
  • Relationship Coaching
  • Transition Coaching
  • Group Coaching
  • Couples Coaching
  • Parents and Teens Coaching
  • Health and Wellness Coaching
  • Sports Performance Coaching
  • Small Business and Professional Coaching
  • Leadership Executive and Management Coaching

What type of coaching does Coach Training Alliance teach? They teach more of a life coaching based model, which is a very broad scope. This gives you the opportunity to niche down. For example: you may choose to work with overworked doctors looking for balance in their life or successful business owners who still don’t feel fulfilled inside.

how to become a relationship coach

It’s Easy To Become A Relationship Coach—Here’s How

It’s so easy

Are you ready for it?

Here’s how to become a Relationship Coach…

Call yourself one!

There are no restrictions or regulations in place for the Relationship Coaching profession. Anyone can become a Relationship Coach by calling themselves as such.

The Relationship Coaching profession isn’t alone as this is also the case for other professions such as Nutrition Coaches, Life Coaches, and Health Coaches—and any other type of coach for that matter.

A Better Question Might Be—How Do I Become a Relationship Coach That Can Transform Lives?

Since anyone, aged 2 yrs+ can call themselves a Relationship Coach, how to become one probably isn’t the best question to be asking.

Sure, anyone can become a Relationship Coach—but not everyone can transform the relationships of others in ways they couldn’t have imagined without walking the road of transforming their own relationships and then coaching others to do the same.

This takes personal dedication to the craft of coaching yourself within your own relationships. Evolution into a catalyst for deep change within your own relationships and others.

This my friend, cannot be done through a course from Udemy. You need live interaction with real-world coaches, offering you valuable coaching, feedback, and practice.

I have recommended a valuable resource toward the end of this post as a place for you to start.

On to the informal regulations of Relationship Coaching.

The International Coach Federation

There is a regulating body called the ICF (International Coach Federation) attempting to regulate the coaching industry. However, their accreditation is not recognized by any country as a legitimate licensing body.

Because of this, the Relationship Coaching industry remains unregulated. It’s not mandatory anywhere in the world to be an accredited Relationship Coach.

Is Accreditation Recommended?

There is an ongoing debate about this. In the end, there are valid points to argue on both sides.

Getting certified through an ICF accredited Relationship Coach program does generally indicate the certification quality meets a certain standard.

For example, no accreditation is given to Relationship Coach certifications that don’t include a live teaching component. I 100% agree with this.

Relationship Coaching is not something one can learn by watching hours of video and all of a sudden knowing how to coach another. It takes practice, lots and lots of practice. First, you learn to coach yourself, then you learn to coach another, through practice.

Core Competencies

Any Life Coach Certification that is accredited by the ICF must teach what the ICF calls the Core Competencies.

These 11 core competencies are also debated by coaches. I can understand this because different types of coaches require different approaches.

For example, I believe Holding Space should be a core competency for any coach, but it’s not.

It’s Your Choice Whether to get certified

Whether you want to learn the art of Relationship Coaching through an accredited program or not is ultimately up to you.

Would I recommend calling yourself a Relationship Coach without any high-quality training or practice? Absolutely not.

I surely wouldn’t want to be coached by someone who has no training or received their training from a low-quality certification like what you can find on Udemy.

Do Your Research and Find a reputable certification

Take some time to discover exactly what type of coaching approach you want to take. Make sure it resonates with you.

For example: Do you want to coach singles looking for a relationship? Couples looking to improve their relationship? The following program covers both and much more.

American Association of Drugless Practitioners

There is a popular regulating body called the AADP (American Association of Drugless Practitioners) attempting to regulate the health coaching industry. However, their accreditation is not recognized by any country as a legitimate licensing body.

They claim to hold high standards for the schools they approve for accreditation. However, they neglect to be transparent about what those standards are. Take what you will from this but their lack of transparency leads me to believe the accreditation is a smokescreen.

The Health Coaching industry remains unregulated. It’s not mandatory anywhere in the world to be an accredited Health Coach.

Is Accreditation Recommended?

There is an ongoing debate about this. In the end, there are valid points to argue on both sides.

Getting certified through an AADP accredited (or another accrediting board) Health Coach program does generally indicate the certification quality meets a certain standard (according to them).

Given the lack of transparency and surrounding any standards for the schools, accreditation may only be good more insurance purposes. Getting board certified through most accrediting bodies allows you to get insurance.

It’s so easy

Are you ready for it?

Here’s how to become a herbalist…

Call yourself one!

There are no restrictions or regulations in place for the Herbalist profession. Anyone can become a herbalist by calling themselves as such.

This means that anyone who chooses to become a herbalist can do so without the need to be certified. However, there are some practitioners who are certified to be herbalists. This is highly recommended when working with clients and other practitioners to ensure their safety.

The herbalist profession isn’t alone as this is also the case for other professions such as Nutritionists, Personal Trainers, and Health Coaches—and any other type of coach for that matter.

A Better Question Might Be—How Do I Become a Herbalist That Can Transform Lives?

Since anyone, aged 2 yrs+ can call themselves a herbalist, how to become one probably isn’t the best question to be asking.

Sure, anyone can become a herbalist—but not everyone can use the intricacies and science behind herbalism in a safe and highly effective manner with other people.

This takes personal dedication to the craft of herbalism.

Some people might choose to use herbs to cure common ailments. Some people might choose to give people herbal remedies so that they can feel better. Some people might choose to help people by making herbal remedies that are used in the home.

This my friend, cannot be done through a course from Udemy. You need a well-structured course that covers all the fine details as there is an abundance to learn. We’re talking 100’s of hours of studying and application to truly understand how to help others through herbalism.

I have recommended a valuable resource toward the end of this post as a place for you to start.

On to the informal regulations of Herbalism.

The American Herbalist Guild

There is a regulating body called the AHG (American Herbalist Guild) attempting to regulate the herbalist industry. However, their accreditation is not recognized by any country as a legitimate licensing body.

Because of this, the Herbalist industry remains unregulated. It’s not mandatory anywhere in the world to be an accredited Herbalist.

AHG Core Competencies

  • Approximately 800 hours of formal education (given the looseness of this standard it’s hard to take it as a strict standard)
  • A working knowledge of at least 150 medicinal herbs. You will demonstrate your knowledge by providing information about the clinical application of herbs from one of three categories of materia medica: Western, Ayurvedic, or Traditional Chinese Medicine.
  • A practical understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, and basic plant chemistry, obtained through independent or formal education, and applied in your differential assessment of cases.
  • Approximately 400 hours of clinical experience obtained through independent practice, structured mentorship, supervised clinical training as part of an academic program, or a combination of these experiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct a comprehensive intake, compile a case history, and provide a differential assessment by presenting three case histories from your practice.
  • Show your understanding of your scope of practice and personal practice limitations by supplying the names and contact information for three health care practitioners with whom you consult or to whom you refer clients when a case is beyond your scope of practice.
  • Two letters of recommendation from colleagues familiar with your training and experience as a clinical herbalist. At least one letter of recommendation should be from one of your primary botanical medicine instructors. If this is not possible, you will need to provide a detailed explanation.
  • A demonstrated commitment to ongoing botanical medicine education.

Is Accreditation Recommended?

There is an ongoing debate about this. In the end, there are valid points to argue on both sides.
