Yves Saint Laurent’s Tuxedo is a men’s fragrance that is both classic and modern. It’s elegant, and sophisticated and can be worn in any setting. Tuxedo is the perfect fragrance for a man who wants to be different, yet still traditional. It’s perfect if you’re looking for a fragrance that’s not overpowering, yet different and noticeable.

Given its high price tag, it’s not accessible to many people. Luckily, there are several great Tuxedo clones/dupes to choose from.

YSL Tuxedo Clones/Dupes

There are numerous clones/dupes of YSL Tuxedo on the market. From my research, most of these clones are not worth it.

I’m not going to waste your time with the bad clones and only focus on the ones that are deemed to be worth getting.

Blind buy worthy? Yes

Maison Alhambra The Tux is said to be the best clone of YSL Tuxedo on the market. Do I agree? Yes. The scent is nearly identical, however, it doesn’t have great longevity or projection. It’s also not my favourite scent on this list, I much prefer the scent of Afnan’s Tuxedo Brown which takes the #2 spot.

The Opening: Is said to be identical to YSL Tuxedo for the average nose.

The Drydown: Is said to be identical to YSL Tuxedo for the average nose. One thing that’s been mentioned and I’d have to agree is The Tux lacks some depth in the dry-down. This is also one of the main reasons I prefer Turathi Brown over The Tux, along with its superior performance.

Performance: The Tux has modest performance. I get around 2 hours of moderate projection and an additional 4-6 hours of a skin scent.

Blind buy worthy? Yes

Turathi Brown is my preferred clone/dupe of YSL’s Tuxedo. It’s not a 1:1 scent profile like The Tux. It’s about 80% Tuxedo and 20% of their own twist. I prefer this scent to The Tux.

Turathi Brown is slightly sweeter than The Tux with the vanilla added, and I prefer sweeter scents in general. It’s not very sweet by any means, just a hint.

Turathi Brown smells higher quality with much more depth and outperforms The Tux by a long shot. If you want to get noticed, Turathi Brown is for you.

The Opening: This is where Turathi Brown smells most like Tuxedo as it has Patchouli as a top note instead of a Heart or Base note. It starts off slightly woodier though.

The Drydown: This is where Turathi Brown takes its’ own path as it dries down. The Patchouli slowly fades while Vanilla and Rose start to become more prominent than Tuxedo. It’s an absolutely beautiful and elegant scent.

Performance: Above average projection for 2-3 hours. Lasts 8+ hours on my skin and days on clothes.

#3 YSL Tuxedo Clone/Dupe

Blind buy worthy? Yes

Kismet is said to be more a clone of Rochas Moustache which is a well-known fragrance inspired by YSL Tuxedo.

The Opening: Starts off more alcoholic than the other 2 clones/dupes and slightly lower quality.

The Drydown: Said to be similar to YSL Tuxedo but not a clone.

Performance: Below average all around. Projects moderately for 1-2 hours and last 4-6 hours on the skin, and 8 hours on clothes.
