2 Best Bleu De Chanel Clones/Dupes + 1 Inspired By (2023)

I've got a hobby collecting fragrances, with 60+ and counting. I liken smelling fragrances to tasting fine wine (which I also do). I enjoy trying scents and expanding my comfort zone. Finding high-quality clones is a joy as many designer and niche fragrances are overpriced, in my opinion.

Importance of Maceration: Have you ever bought a fragrance and when you first sprayed it the performance and/or scent just sucked? The solution is to spray it 10 times and let sit in cool, dark place for 1-3 months. When you try it again you may notice a major difference in performance and/or smell. This has worked for many of my fragrances.

Bleu De Chanel is an iconic scent that birthed the blue fragrance niche. It is a classic, masculine fragrance that has been around for over 100 years. The scent is elegant, with subtle spices in the foreground a hint of smokey incense, and sweetness in the background. Bleu De Chanel is praised as a masterpiece by many in the fragrance community.

The one major downside to Bleu De Chanel is its’ price, as it’s quite steep. Making this iconic fragrance inaccessible to many people.

This roadblock has many people, searching for a Bleu De Chanel clone/dupe.

Bleu De Chanel appears to be quite difficult to clone as many companies have tried to match its scent without success.

I have 2 popular and highly praised clones/dupes of Bleu De Chanel. One of these clones is said to be a dead ringer of Bleu De Chanel. This other is more of an inspired-by type of scent and smells nice in its own right.

I can’t speak to these claims as I don’t own Bleu De Chanel. This is based on my extensive research during my own search for the best Bleu De Chanel clone/dupe.

Bleu De Chanel Clones/Dupes

I’m not going to waste your time with the bad clones and only focus on the ones that are deemed to be worth getting.

Club De Nuit Iconic is said to be the best clone of Bleu De Chanel on the market by a long shot. Many others have tried to clone Bleu De Chanel with little success.

Opening: Is said to be sharper and more citrusy for the 1st 10-15 minutes or so. Because of this, Iconic resembles Bleu De Chanel EDT in the opening. This can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your taste. The dry-down is where Iconic starts to shine.

Drydown: Is said to get closer and closer to the DNA of Bleu De Chanel EDP as it dries down. The citruses fade and the slightly sweet woods take over with incense off in the background. The one difference seems to be Iconic doesn’t have the same depth as Bleu De Chanel, but otherwise, the scents are nearly identical.

Performance: Club De Nuit Iconic projects moderately for the first 2-3 hours and then stays fairly close to the skin thereafter. Lasts 6-8 hours on my skin (could be different for you). Bleu De Chanel isn’t known for having a great projection and being more intimate. Iconic is no different.

#2 Bleu De Chanel Clone/Dupe

Armaf Tag-Him Review
Similarity To Bleu De Chanel

Clone/Dupe Of: Bleu De Chanel EDT

Have I tried Tag-Him? Yes

Have I tried Bleu De Chanel? No

Blind buy worthy? Yes

Opening: Lacks the zesty punch that’s famous in Bleu De Chanel. It comes much flatter and more linear. I find the mint is quite prominent in Tag-Him, but that could just be my nose.

Drydown: This scent is fairly linear and doesn’t change a whole lot from the opening. It dries down to a very pleasant scent. It may not smell a lot like Bleu De Chanel but it carries the same vibe. It’s missing the woods and incense from Bleu De Chanel. I actually enjoy this scent quite a bit though and have received compliments on it. I love the freshness of the mint that stays throughout the dry-down.

Performance: I was quite surprised by the performance of Tag-Him as I wasn’t expecting much. It has better projection than Iconic and projects for 2-3 hours. Based on my compliments, it projects at least an arm’s length. The scent stays on my skin for 6-8 hours.

MIssoni Pour Homme Review
Similarity To Bleu De Chanel EDT

Inspired By: Bleu De Chanel EDT

Have I tried MIssoni Pour Homme? Yes

Have I tried Bleu De Chanel? No

Blind buy worthy? Yes

Opening: Not as heavy on the citruses as Bleu De Chanel. It is less in your face and settles quickly. I don’t find the opening as flat as Tag-Him, this lands somewhere between.

Drydown: MIssoni Pour Homme is also a linear scent. It doesn’t change much as it dries from the opening. The dry-down is said to be less woody than Bleu De Chanel and not as deep. I find the overall scent from beginner to end a little powdery, likely from the lavender, which Bleu De Chanel doesn’t have.

Performance: This projects for 2 hours or so off of my skin. After that, it gets close to the skin and fades after 5-6 hours.

I enjoy this scent very much as has become one of my go-to dumb reaches.

I prefer this over Tag-Him.

  • Inspired by Bleu De Chanel
  • Opening is less citrusy and more powdery
  • Dry down not as woody, no incense, more powdery
  • Projects well for 2 hours
  • Last 5-6 hours on the skin
